Near East University Faculty of Tourism gave 2018-2019 Spring Semester Graduates

It was announced that the graduation ceremony for the spring term of the academic year 2018-2019 of Faculty of Tourism of Near East University has recently been realised.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Vice rector of Near East University Prof Dr Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu, Founding Dean of Faculty of Tourism and Head of Tourism Research Centre Prof Dr Tülen Saner, Head of Departments, Academicians, students and families attended the graduation ceremony, which was held stupendously.

The ceremony began with a minute’s silence, followed by the national anthem. Then, there was a music performance by the academic member of the Department of Music Teaching, İlyas Abdullini.

Subsequently, there was a dance show performed by the Near East University Dance School students, which was highly liked. Later, high achieving students were given achievement medals and diplomas.

Prof. Dr. Tülen Saner: “We worked with a team spirit to provide our students with the education they deserve…”
The opening speech was done by the Founding Dean of Faculty of Tourism and Head of Tourism Research Centre Prof. Dr.Tülen Saner where she stated that they have adopted the principle of providing quality and appropriate training for years. Furthermore, she expressed that they worked with a team spirit in order to give the students education that is beyond the standards in order to open all doors in students’ future business lives. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Saner, emphasized that their goal was to provide the students with the best, quality education in accordance with the contemporary requirements of today. Additionally, she stressed that they had equipped their students with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure that they are always at the forefront in competitive environments.

Also, Prof. Dr. Saner expressed that she wanted to point out two details which made them, as the Faculty of Tourism, rather proud. Firstly, she stated that they have been entitled to be a faculty as of November 2018 in this adventure where their first achievements started as a college. Secondly, the Department of Gastronomy, which founded in 2014, and which was giving its first graduates that day, participated in a contest made an achievement and returned with medals.

Addressing the families of graduating students, Prof. Dr. Saner expressed that it is time for students to be rewarded for their efforts throughout their study and that graduates were leaving a significant portion of their education life behind to commence their experience of real life. She said that the graduates had become independent individuals who can stand on their own two feet as they make plans for the future. Prof. Dr. Saner emphasized her belief that the students to be awarded their diplomas were the ones who received full support from their families; pointing out that they were aware of the family roles and sacrifices to enable students’ success. She said that the families had every right to feel proud at the graduation ceremony.

Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Tülen Saner addressed the graduating students and said that the graduation day was not to be considered as an end, but rather treated as the beginning. From that day onwards, the students needed to struggle in life and pick up responsibilities. She stressed that the graduates will represent the Near East University in the best places in the best possible way and assured that the university will continue to be by the students’ side and give them full support.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students Okan Dağa, stated that they as the students were saying goodbye to Near East University with the joy and sadness of graduating from this institution after many beautiful days. He said that they would like to thank NEU for the education offered to them during their entire undergraduate program and all the facilities provided by the Near East University. Okan Dağa added that they could not thank their esteemed families for their material and moral support in the difficult processes of their higher education. Finally, he said that he wanted to thank the NEU academicians who prepared them for work and social life.
It was stated that Moshood Oladimeji Oyekan made a speech on behalf of the graduating overseas students.

Subsequent to the speeches, high achieving students were awarded medal and their diplomas by the Vice Rector of Near East University Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu. Then, all the graduating students were awarded their diplomas by the academic members. The graduation ceremony ended after the students joyfully threw their caps in the air.
