
Head of Department of Tourism and Hotel Management (English Programme)
Özlem Uzunsaf was born in 31 October, 1974 in Nicosia. She was graduated from Cihangir Primary School in 1983, and from Sht. Hüseyin Ruso Secondary School in 1986. After graduation from Nicosia Turkish Lycee in 1992, she went to Eastern Mediterranean University and studied on Tourism and Hospitality Management. In these times, she worked as a student assistant at part-time and she was graduated from university in the list of honorary degree in 1998. Uzunsaf, subsequently worked as a loan officer at Credit West Bank, as a tourism teacher at Güzelyurt Meslek Lycee, and as a director at her own business. She later pursued master’s degrees, in Secondary Education Field Teaching Non-Thesis Master Program from Atatürk Teacher Training Academy in 2009, followed by a M.Sc in Tourism Management from Near East University in 2012. In the same year she started to work as a full-time faculty member at the Faculty of Tourism. She received with her Ph.D. in Business Administration from Near East University in 2021. Throughout her academic career, she has supervised master’s theses in diverse areas within tourism and management. She has made significant contribution to the field through her articles published in international journals, presentations at various conferences and has served as a reviewer for various journals. Her research interests are leadership, innovative behaviour, eco-tourism, and sustainable development. In addition to her research and teaching, she is currently the Head of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management (English), and a member on the Social Science Ethics Committee at the Near East University. In July 2024 Uzunsaf became an Assistant Professor on Business Administration. She is the mother of two daughters.
